Swim Cow Instructor Welcome
Welcome to the Swim Cow Herd!
You are now a part of a greater community of like-minded aquatic professionals who are working to eliminate drowning and to educate their community about water safety. To equip you for an easy transition onto the team, we have compiled some information to get you off to a good start.
Set yourself up for success.
- Communicate directly and clearly with the Customer Member:
- Learn expectations the Customer Member has for the swim lesson experience.
- Set realistic and achievable goals for the student/s.
- Communicate safety guidelines including the requirement for a parent or guardian to be present with direct supervision at all times during your visit.
- Set arrival and departure times. Tip: Set an alarm to alert you when you have 5 minutes left in the lesson so you can wrap up on time.
- Ask in advance where to park and enter the property. Be dressed in your swimsuit ready to get in the water.
- Learn cancellation and make-up policy. You communicate directly with the Customer Member to reschedule cancelled lessons. See Instructor Addendum for more details.
Be prepared and professional.
- Communicate well and often. Parents have a lot on their minds. The easier you make their experience, the more likely they are to request you again and to refer you to a neighbor or friend. If you are stuck in traffic, feeling sick, or have a question about their experience, do not hesitate to reach out to them.
- Build relationships with the families, but keep conversations light and away from high-emotion topics such as politics.
- Avoid entering through the home to access the pool area when possible.
- Confirm in advance that the pool being accessed for lessons, if not at a home, allows private lessons to be taught. Some HOAs and apartments do not allow private lessons.
- Maintain a professional dress code. Swim Cow logo rash guards are available for purchase at a reasonable price. (link here)
- Remember the Safer Swimmer Guarantee when teaching lesson packages of 12 or more. Click HERE for qualifying details and HERE for the Instructor Member’s obligations.
Promote yourself.
- Ask for referrals and recommend more lessons to achieve the best results. Even a few extra lessons while the water is warm helps maintain the new skills learned.
- Ask for reviews to promote your business. Ask your Customer Members to mention your name in a Google Review on the Swim Cow Google My Business Page.
Get Paid.
- Remind the Customer Member to redeem their Lesson Ticket that is on an email sent to them when they purchased the Lesson Ticket Package. (If they cannot find the email, notify jmiller@swimcow.com and the email will be resent.)
- Review your claimed passes for Lesson Ticket redemption. Login to shortlist.com and click “Submit” on the performed jobs once they are complete.
- Review your completed jobs prior to the 1st and 15th of each month since invoices are processed on those dates. Checks are mailed on the 5th and 20th.
- Earn rewards. Swim Cow offers bonus opportunities.
- $25 for Customer Member Referrals: When Customer Members tell their friends about you, you get paid $25 extra.
- $25 for Customer Member Reorders: When Customer Members sign up for another Lesson Ticket Package, you get paid $25 extra.
- $45 for Package Completions: You receive an extra $45 after every 3rd completed package. (This applies to multiple customer members. It does not have to be the same Customer for all three packages.)
